About Daria

Through the programs I’ve developed as a certified flexibility and stretching instructor, I’ve helped over 100 clients increase their mobility, reduce the feelings of aging, open up stiff joints, and prevent injuries. But my journey started with what I thought was a career-ending injury of my own. 
 
Growing up in Moscow, I always wanted to do ballet. I was fascinated by the flexibility, grace, and athleticism it requires. But my physique wasn’t a fit. Though very athletic, I was too tall, and not naturally flexible. I was more suited for long distance running, cycling, and swimming, so I combined all three and started participating in triathlons from the age of 9. Training became a core part of who I was, and I was incredibly driven and focused. 
 
Then 10 years ago, as I set out for my daily run, I felt the sharpest pain in my knee—a shooting pain like I’d never felt before. I could barely walk home. 
 
My doctor couldn’t figure it out. MRIs showed no damage, but clearly something was wrong. For the first time in my life, I wondered if my athletic career was over. Triathlons had always added feelings of joy, stability and control in my life, and the thought of losing that was terrifying.
 
I began researching nonstop. It took years, but I was finally able to determine I was having deep muscle spasms that built up over time, and this had shortened my hip muscles so badly that it was affecting my IT band. I desperately needed to stretch better to lengthen my muscles again. I became fully committed to a daily flexibility training program. Finally, with time and consistency, I started to recover.
 
But my journey didn’t stop there. I wanted others to have access to what took me so many years to fully understand – that flexibility training can help reverse the constant pain that so many of us deal with on a daily basis. I wanted others to feel the power I now felt.
 
I took classes from three different stretching schools, guided by professional rhythmic gymnasts in Moscow and Los Angeles. From there, I got my certification as a stretching instructor through ASFA fitness association, where I had over 100 hours of 1-on-1 practice with clients.
I can’t even begin to explain how stretching has changed my life. I used to dream of being a ballet dancer as a kid, and now I get asked by strangers if I’m a dancer because of my posture.
 
Clients tell me their improved flexibility gives them a sense of control – not only of their body, but their lives. When you no longer suffer from constant neck and back pain associated with a sedentary work lifestyle, you’ll feel like a weight has been lifted. You’re not only healthier, but happier.

How It Works

Since each individual body is unique and different, I build a program custom tailored to my client’s needs. You’ve probably noticed from working in groups that what works for one might not work as well for another. During the first session we will do an assessment of your body’s strengths and weaknesses and create a stretching routine based on that.  As we progress with the program, we can focus more on problem areas and build stronger cores to support muscles that are weaker than others.  I use different equipment to make each of our training the most effective and fun. We live to have enjoyable moments, and flexibility workouts should be a part of it!
